Well, the DJ world is finally going digital.
(DJAP) May 2, 2005
It's about time in our humble opinion,
as the tools have been available for some time. The newest
generation of software available is now better than ever, the
choices many, and the availability of legal MP3 downloads and
ripping services has made the transition even easier than when we
went from vinyl to CD.
Many people are using Napster, iTunes
and others to download their tracks, but more seem intent on doing
the ripping themselves from their own CD collections and monthly
subscriptions. Tools like AudioGrabber and MusicMatch make it a
breeze to rip your own CD's into MP3 format now, and have up to date
information from the various CD databases such as CDDB (Gracenote)
and FreeDB.
It's up to you to pick the tools of your
trade, but the choices have never been better and more varied. The
longer you wait, the longer the catch up period will be - just as
those who held out for so long to switch to CD. There will certainly
always be the purists who prefer the touch of vinyl on their
turntables, but for the rest of us, the time has come to move
beyond...
We'll be presenting a series on
switching to digital shortly - using the experience of some of the
best names in the business. Check out ComputerDJSoftware.Com for the
latest DJ software reviews and release notes.

CPSDJ Certification is underway.
(DJAP May 1, 2005)
As you know, we have not had any
professional certification in our industry, and this is a great
start to bringing the kind of confidence to our clients that they
deserve. We've provided a link above so you can get more
information.
If you are serious about DJ'ing, you
should seriously consider having professional credentials behind
your name. We are familiar with a number of the people involved in
this project, and know them to be true to their word in wanting to
bring about a more professional and prosperous DJ community. They
also have years and years of experience to draw upon and set forth
standards that will set you apart from the everyday disc jockey.
This is not one of those "send us your money" schemes, that take your
hard earned cash and give
you nothing in return but talk. This is a bona-fide endorsement, and you have to pass
the test and meet the requirements in order to be certified.
Your customers will know you are a
tried and true Jock when they see those initials behind your name!
Stay tuned for more info, as we are moving our
site into the 21st century, and join in our forums and share your
experiences and the like. There's a link at the top to the forums.
Thank You for visiting DJAmerica, and we
look forward to seeing you soon. |
